In the best possible location for Buckingham Palace and the Horseguard’s Parade, the Crowne Plaza St James not only offers the comfort and efficiency you would expect from a 4-star hotel, but also some unique features, such as a lovely courtyard garden and the longest bar in London. The only drawback seems to be that the décor in some of the older rooms looks a little tired.
The Crowne Plaza St James Hotel is housed in a traditional building, which dates from 1897 and features an impressive red brick façade adorned with decorative brickwork. Arranged around a central courtyard, which encloses a fountain and attractive flowerbeds, it boasts an ideal location for both business and leisure guests. Varying in size due to the age of the building, the 363 guestrooms are decorated in a soothing, neutral style, with patterned bedspreads and frilled curtains adding more of an “English country house” feel. They also have modern furniture, two-line telephones and modem points. All are clean and well maintained, as are the tiled en suite bathrooms. The hotel offers three highly acclaimed restaurants, including “Bistro 51”, which serves French-British dishes in a lively, informal atmosphere, “Quilon”, which serves southern Indian cuisine, and “Bank Westminster”, which offers a modern menu with a British twist in a contemporary venue and includes Zander, the longest bar in London.
